My name is Max Potosme and I want to thank you for taking the time off of your busy schedule to get to know a bit about me.
As a Floridian, I grew up in a family of four down in West Palm Beach, Florida. My parents were extremely hardworking people and I like to believe that’s where I learned my work ethic. After graduating from John I. Leonard High School, I studied higher education at Palm Beach State University then transferred to Florida International University where I developed my love for investing. I was part of the board of FIU’s Financial Management Association where we learned how to fine tune our financial skills.
After graduating, I became a stockbroker in downtown Miami with a high-energy office with brokers speaking so loud it’s hard to hear who you’re talking to on the other line; not as glamorous as movies portray! Miami is a beautiful city with great food and it’s where I met my wife, Pam, after transferring firms early on in my career.
We love to travel and enjoy anything outdoors like camping, hiking, biking, and sightseeing, to name a few. This love for the outdoors is what brought us to Colorado where we now live near the foothills with our daughter, Blake, and two dogs who frequently get to enjoy hikes.
Having been an advisor for over a decade, my passion continues to be to help people invest, calm their financial uncertainties and plan for their future. Often, people plan longer for a major vacation than they do for their retirement and I’m here to show them it’s not as difficult as it seems.

My name is David Connelly, AIF®, and I want to tell you about my professional and personal background. I hope it helps you get to know me better. I grew up without a dad, who passed away when I was two months old. My mom worked hard to support our family, but everyone had to contribute. As a result, I learned the value of drive and diligence. By age ten, I was a latchkey kid and forged an independent spirit early on.
I joined the military at age 17 and decided to forgo college after high school to serve in the Air Force. I matured, went to night school, earned a degree in business and engineering, and learned skills that I still utilize today. I then turned my expertise into a career in technology sales and the financial planning profession — now with 22 years of experience and still going strong.
I live in Monument, Colorado, with my wife, Tracey, and three wonderful teenage daughters.
Like myself, people no longer have the preordained path to go to college, graduate, and then work for the same company for 30 years. Pensions are outdated. You are primarily on your own, and making mistakes at any point before attaining financial independence can cost you dearly.
Most critical financial decisions occur in your 40s and 50s, and it is rewarding to help people make better financial decisions during these impactful years. We focus on three main concepts: Surplus, Cash Flow, and Tax Efficiency.
I have a passion for:
I wholeheartedly love what I do and will still run Living Your Wealth long after my daughters spend all my money.
Golf is one of my passions. In addition, I love traveling around the country, and
I am always trying out new courses.
I love traveling and spending time with my family.
Recently, I started a YouTube channel called “Whiteboard in the Wilderness.”
I love the TV show “The Office” and the band Coldplay in terms of entertainment.
I relish being outdoors in the beautiful Colorado mountains.
I travel around the U.S. whenever I get a chance. So many people focus on overseas trips and never really see their backyard. I lived in Europe and Asia a great deal in the military, so domestic travel is right up my alley. I visited all fifty states by age 30 and continue to enjoy the incredible sights of our nation.
My favorite international locations include Iceland, Japan, Ireland, Turkey, Israel, Scotland, Australia, and New Zealand.
I also love all national parks and wilderness areas. They are a passion, and I have six of sixty-three national parks left on my bucket list.”
Professional Experience
I worked at A.G. Edwards & Sons Investment Management in Boston and then at Raymond James Financial Services/Hewlett Packard Credit Union for nearly ten years. I founded Living Your Wealth in 2013.
CFP® CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER TM
Coursework at the College for Financial Planning and Boston University. I completed seven intense personal financial planning classes over two years; the CFP® coursework taught me how all the puzzle pieces of someone’s financial situation fit together.
ACCREDITED INVESTMENT FIDUCIARY® (AIF®)-COURSEWORK COMPLETED THROUGH FI360
The designation represents a thorough knowledge of and ability to apply fiduciary practices. The Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF) is an ethical certification issued by Fi360. I learned a great deal about earning trust by focusing on being an investment fiduciary (someone who always works in a person’s best interest).
ACCREDITED ASSET MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST (AAMSTM)
The Accredited Asset Management Specialist (AAMS®) professional designation, is recognized as an industry benchmark for asset management credentials and the top financial firms. I received this designation years ago and still treasure the time I spent learning the ins and outs of investments.
The Chartered SRI Counselor TM (CSRICTM)
The CSRIC program has developed in collaboration with industry-group leader US SIF: The Forum for Sustainable and Responsible Investment. It provides financial advisors and investment professionals with information about the history, definitions, trends, portfolio construction principles, fiduciary responsibilities, and best practices for sustainable investments. The program is a three-semester-credit graduate-level course, and students spend approximately 90-135 hours in course-related activities to study and prepare adequately for the course examination. I enjoyed this program as it taught me real-world applications for helping clients focus more on sustainable investing.
Member of the Financial Planning Association
The Financial Planning Association® (FPA®) is the primary membership organization for financial planning practitioners who want to master the practice of financial planning and who are committed to shaping the profession’s future.
Member of the Investments and Wealth Institute.
The Investments & Wealth Institute (IWI®) is a professional association, advanced education provider, and standards body for financial advisors, investment consultants, and wealth managers who embrace excellence and ethics.
